In the course of my employment with Hunter Warfield, Inc., I had multiple responsibilities encompassing a variety of matters. As its General Counsel, my duties included providing legal advice to the corporation regarding various matters, drafting and negotiating contracts with vendors and clients, monitoring litigation, completing and updating license applications and other documents, reviewing forms and procedures for legal sufficiency and providing other related services. In addition to the duties required by this position, I also supervised the Compliance Department, the Legal Consumer Collection Department and the Commercial Collection Department which required that I utilize managerial and organizational skills. As the supervisor of the Compliance Department, I supervised the Senior Compliance Officer and the Compliance Officer to insure that collection activity and procedures conformed with federal, state and local laws and regulations on a national basis. I also assisted in responding to complaints and addressing related matters. As the supervisor of the Commercial Legal and Consumer Legal Departments, I supervised 7 individuals and monitored litigation being conducted by other attorneys. I prepared forms, reviewed documents, implemented improved procedures and also assisted in researching and analyzing accounts. I also coordinated with other departments to implement specific projects and improve existing procedures.

I was responsible for monitoring and managing most of the firm’s litigation. I tried cases, drafted pleadings and motions, negotiated settlements and otherwise managed pending legal matters. I was also the head of the collection department and efficiently handled over 1,500 cases at any one time while supervising approximately 8 associate attorneys, paralegals and legal secretaries. The primary area of concentration was community association law, including contracts, collections, foreclosures, covenant enforcement, injunctions and other matters. I was appointed as insurance defense counsel in some cases and monitored and worked with appointed insurance defense co-counsel in other cases.

I handled a myriad of litigation matters involving contracts, collections, personal injury, family law, and evictions. I was responsible for all stages of cases from inception to post judgment. In addition to litigating the matters, I also drafted pleadings, memoranda, contracts and other related legal documents.

I handled commercial and residential real estate transactions which included drafting leases and related collection actions. I also drafted pleadings and represented landlords in eviction and other contract proceedings.

I handled legal and administrative matters. I provided legal assistance to soldiers involving a myriad of issues including estate planning, consumer transactions, contracts, and family law. I also handled administrative matters requiring that I research applicable laws and regulations and provide legal advice to military commanders on a variety of issues. Additionally, I also served as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney prosecuting violations and crimes committed on military installations.
